The Wireless Temp Tag fulfills two functions: It measures the surrounding temperature and verifies continuous operation of the RFID system. It is mounted inside the detection zone of an antenna.

The Temperature Sensor works like a PIT tag by using the electromagnetic field to power it and return the measured value back to the reader. A measurement is initiated by the TS command from a single reader (ORSR, ORSRBT) or mux reader (ORMR) with FW version 2.3 or higher. Only one sensor can be used per antenna.
Since the sensor is inductively powered by the PIT tag antenna, there is no battery and the device will operate indefinitely.
